States produce large volumes of data reports, but accessibility is often an afterthought—if considered at all. To address this gap, the Weiss Center conducted usability studies focused on making these reports accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, have motor disabilities, or intellectual disabilities.
Based on these findings, the Weiss Center developed ADAPT (Accessible Data Analysis and Publishing Tool), an open-source tool designed with accessibility in mind from the start. ADAPT includes accessibility features informed by the study and is fully compatibility with assistive technologies.
